Man United attempting to sign Miguel Gutierrez

Manchester United have not been to their ideal level in the recent seasons. The club finished on 8th position in Premier League in 2023/24 season. It was only after the victory in FA Cup final that they were guaranteed a place in Europa League. One of the reason behind club’s unsuccess has been poor performance by players on the pitch. Sir Jim Ratcliffe has taken over in february and is constantly working hard to improve the overall structure of the club. He has made several and crucial changes to the United board and now the club is hoping to welcome new players. United have now linked with Miguel Gutierrez as the left back position is one of the areas in which club is noticably weak.

Real Madrid’s plans for Gutierrez

Real Madrid parted ways with Gutierrez in 2022. Gutierrez impressed everyone ever since he joined Girona. Madrid have a buy back option present in Gutierrez’s contract which they are looking forward to trigger.

Gutierrez has his current contract with Girona until 2027. He earns salary of £280 thousand per year. Madrid can buy him back this summer for only €8 million which they are willing to pay. However, according to reports the spanish giants have already agreed a deal of £34 million with Manchester United.

Real Madrid were uncertain with the future of Ferland Mendy. However the French international recently had a very good season and helped Madrid to win La Liga and Champions League titles. Along with Mendy, Madrid have Fran Garcia. In addition, the spanish giants are linked with Alphonso Davies who’s future at Bayern is uncertain. This concludes that Gutierrez has no chance fitting in the Madrid’s squad. However Florentino Perez still has a plan to make a profit from this deal which will be an additional benefit for the La Liga champions.

United linked with Gutierrez

Manchester United have welcomed Dan Ashworth as the new sporting director. He has quickly assigned the work to complete the signing of Matthijs De Ligt from Bayern Munich. Along with the defender, United want to sign midfielder, striker and right winger. However Old Trafford may witness the arrival of new left back due to the current scenario in that area. Tyrell Malacia has been seriously injury prone over the years. Luke Shaw has been club’s regular starter over the years but again the Englishman has been injury prone too. As a result Erik Ten Hag often used Diogo Dalot as left back which is not the ideal position of the Portugese international. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano spotting this situation said that United will go for a young and talented left back.

Manchester United boss has been hugely impressed by the season Gutierrez had. The arrival of Spaniard may solve the issues United are facing in that area. Gutierrez has also caught attention from Borussia Dortmund, Chelsea, Liverpool and Arsenal. However, currently the Red Devils are leading the race.

Miguel Gutierrez in 2023/24 season

Miguel Gutierrez has been with Real Madrid since his young days. He represented Madrid on various occasions and was part of team when they won La Liga and Champions League two years ago. However due to heavy competition, Gutierrez was not able to receive sufficient chances and was sold in 2022 to Girona. In his two years with Girona, the Spaniard has been superb and has made name across the whole Europe.

In 2023/24 season Gutierrez once again played an important role for Girona and has helped the club to achieve Champions League football next season. Gutierrez started 35 matches in La Liga for Girona this term. He scored 2 goals along with providing 7 assists. The Spaniard had 88% passing accuracy throughout the season. Gutierrez achieved the overall rating of 7.14 for the 2023/24 season according to Fotmob. United could use his solid defending along with crucial attacking to bring success back to Old Trafford.
