Manchester United have began their preparations for the next season. Along with changes in board there are huge changes expected in squad. Erik Ten Hag’s future was uncertain over the last weeks of 2023/24 season. As United finished on 8th position in Premier League, questions began to arise on Dutchman’s future. However United’s FA Cup final win has helped Ten Hag to keep his job and the Dutchman is working on the plans for next season. Along with incomings, United need to sell some of their existing stars. United are desperate to offload two of their stars who spent time away from Old Trafford in loan moves.
Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood spent their time away on loan. According to HITC, United want to sell them permanently as it will help the club in raising the finances. Along with finance, the club can free up the space for new players to join. There are two reasons behind United’s decision to sell those players. Firstly, both of the players are not included in Ten Hag’s plans and the Dutchman has no intention to use them. Secondly, United will be able to operate within the guidelines of financial fair play and will also avoid to breach profitability and sustainability rules due to earning a good amount of profit.
United ready to part ways with Sancho
Manchester United signed Jadon Sancho from Borussia Dortmund in 2021 for £73 million. His transfer was most awaited at that time and fans were very happy with his arrival. However Sancho was unable to continue the superb form he had at Germany. Eventually he fell out of favour and in later stages was sidelined for most of the matches. Sancho was sent on loan to Borussia Dortmund fro half season in 2024.
He was able to be at his best once again in this half season. The 24 year old winger impressed everyone with amazing performances and reached Champions League final with Dortmund. Sancho played 14 Bundesliga matches and scored 2 goals along with assisting 2. He started in all of the club’s knockout matches in Champions League and scored 1 goal for them. Unfortunately Dortmund lost the final at Wembley to Real Madrid who secured their 15th Champions League title.
United are hoping to receive offers from all around the Europe and are desperate to offload Sancho along with Greenwood.
United ready to sell their starboy
Mason Greenwood was once considered United’s starboy. However his arrest in January 2022 caused a sudden and drastic dip in his career. Greenwood was charged with attempted rape, bodily harm and controlling behaviour which made him miss professional football for 18 months. Later Greenwood’s charges were dropped in February 2023 after which he joined La Liga side Getafe.
Greenwood played 33 La Liga matches in 2023/24 season in which he scored 8 goals. Furthermore he provided 6 assists for the spanish club. However, Ten Hag doesn’t rate Greenwood and has revealed that he is not included in United’s future plans.
United to offload some more stars
Jadon Sancho and Mason Greenwood are not the the only players United want to sell. There are several other players who will be making their way away from Old Trafford.
United are willing to hear offers for Victor Lindelof, Harry Maguire, Aaron Wan-Bissaka, Casemiro, Donny Van De Beek, Christian Eriksen and some more. To conclude, Dan Ashworth will be working hard with Erik Ten Hag to achieve a proper squad to compete against the big clubs. The Red Devils will hope to get their hands on Premier League trophy for the first time after 2012. United will start the preparations for the pre-season on Monday at the Cartington training ground.
