Man United get second crack at Chelsea superstar

In the recent transfer windows, Man United and Chelsea are seen sending players in opposite directions. Last year, Mason Mount joined the Red Devils from The Blues. This year we saw Jadon Sancho making his move to Stamford Bridge. Ben Chilwell could be the latest addition to this list as he is once again linked with United.

Mason Mount has not been able to reach his potential at United and is struggling to make his mark. On the other hand, Jadon Sancho has reached new heights since making his move this summer. Sancho is currently on loan but is set to become permanent Chelsea player next year.

United want to sign a left back and it has became their priority due to constant injuries to their current stars. Both Tyrell Malacia and Luke Shaw have been injury prone in the recent years and are yet to play a single minute this season.

Erik Ten Hag is using Diogo Dalot on the left back position but it is not the Portugese’s natural position. Dalot is highly effective on the right back position but he has to adapt due to unavailability on the other flank.

Man United to get second chance to sign Chelsea fullback

United were linked with Ben Chilwell at one point in summer. But they decided to not sign the defender due to the injury issues. Chelsea wanted to offload the defender and hence were actively hearing offers from all clubs.

The Blues even tried to sell Chilwell to Turkish and Saudi clubs. Enzo Maresca dropped the player from the first team squad and told him to find a new club. But, Chilwell was unable to find to make a move away and hence stayed with The Blues this summer.

Chilwell recently played his first game of the season in a Carabao Cup fixture. He was looking very good and Chelsea fans were happy to see him on the pitch.

However, Chilwell will not be able to turn the plans of Chelsea as he is set to depart in January. As per The Mirror, Chilwell remains available for sale in January and The Blues are accepting bids for him.

Chilwell’s injury still remains an issue for United as they already have two players with similar issues. Turkish clubs also decided to not go after Chilwell due to his constant injuries. United do need a left back and Chilwell can bring in the freshness and improve their backline, but they should also monitor other options before making any move.
