United have been linked with many big names recently. They tried to sign Liam Delap but were unable to do so. They had Gyokeres as top target but he prefers to join UCL playing club instead. Hence, they have turned their attention to proven Premier League striker instead.
According to Caught Offside, United are showing interest in Ollie Watkins. He is 29 year old English striker who currently plays for Aston Villa. He has been superb in recent season which has also earned him spot in England national team.
Villa are in need to raise funds in order to comply with PSR. Hence, they can cash-in on Watkins this summer. Watkins has proved himself in Premier League and will surely come as upgrade over any of the current United star. But, Villa will surely demand high fee considering the player’s quality and demand in market.
Watkins ended the recent season with 17 goals and 14 assists in 54 games. In 2023/24 season, he scored 27 goals and picked 13 assists in 53 games. This suggests that he is in peak of his career and hence will have an instant impact on the United squad.
