Jadon Sancho signed for Manchester United in 2021 for a fee reported to be £73 million. His transfer news went viral as he was most awaited player by the United fans. Sancho came from a great spell of fours years at Borussia Dortmund. However he was unable to achieve the same results with the Premier League side. Eventually he failed out of manager’s favour and was dropped from selection. Sancho spent the second half of 2023/24 season on a loan move back to Dortmund. He is very likely to get sold permanently this summer. However sources suggest United may take another decision about the winger’s future.
Sancho may return to train with Red Devils
Manchester United will began their training for the pre-season on Monday at Carrington training centre. According to Manchester Evening News, Sancho must return to train for the pre-season with the squad. However it is unclear wheter the 24 year old winger will get a chance to train with the first squad or not. After Dortmund’s win in semi final of Champions League, United’s manager Erik Ten Hag praised Sancho’s performance. The Dutchman said Sancho played very well and he is a good player. He added that the winger showed why United brought him. The manager said that the they will see what will happen in future. However the rumours about Sancho leaving are much more than him staying.
Dortmund who achieved the services of Sancho were interested in making the loan move permanent. However the price demanded by United proved too high for the German club. United have offers from other clubs for the winger. However, as it stands Sancho will return back to train with the club on Monday.
What happened between United and Sancho
United paid a hefty fee of £73 million to achieve the services of English international in 2021. Sancho was coming after scoring 50 goals along with providing 57 assists for Dortmund in four years. However his form dipped ever since he joined United. In his first two seasons with Red Devils, Sancho was only able to score 12 goals and provide 6 assists. As a result, in 2023/24 season he was eventually dropped by Ten Hag.
Sancho played his last match for United on 26 August 2023. Later he was dropped in clash against Arsenal by the manager. Ten Hag stated that the decision was made due to Sancho’s performances in the training. Sancho decided to hit back at Ten Hag and claimed the manager’s statement was wrong.
“Please don’t believe everything you read. I will not allow people saying things that is completely untrue. I have conducted myself very well in training this week” – Sancho’s tweet after being dropped.
This didn’t go well on the player’s side and Sancho was restricted to only make three premier league appearances in 2023/24 season. Later, Sancho was sent on loan by United to his former club Dortmund. Sancho picked his form back with the German club and helped them to reach the champions league final.
Juventus interested in Sancho
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano has revealed the Italian club’s interest in Jadon Sancho. He said that Juventus appreciate the player. However negotiations haven’t been advanced as of yet. In addition, Romano said FC Barcelona are also interested in the 24 year old winger.
Juventus are looking to claim back the Serie A throne under Thiago Motta. They believe Sancho could be an important player for their future. They want to sign Sancho either on loan or on permanent deal. Barcelona are also in rebuilding process. Hansi Flick has taken charge of Camp Nou and is expecting a lot of new faces. However due to Barca’s financial crises, Juventus are currently leading the race for the 24 year old winger.
