Man United are plotting a move to sign Arsenal target in the upcoming summer transfer window. The player can cost as much as €60 million to any interested club.
The star in question here is Martin Zubimendi of Real Sociedad. He is 25 years old and plays as holding midfielder. He has €60 million release clause and Spanish club want it to be paid fully.
Arsenal have been long-term admirers of Zubimendi. They tried to sign him last summer and were joined by Liverpool. But, the player had no intention of moving away from Spain which resulted in failure of the deal.
The situation seems to have changed now and Zubimendi is set to leave Sociedad. He is heavily linked with Arsenal who are said to have convinced him. But, the latest reports suggest that Man United are planning to hijack their move.
Man United planning to enter the race for Martin Zubimendi
GiveMeSport have reported that Man United are eyeing a summer move for Zubimendi. They are willing to trigger his release clause and secure his services. The report also states that there will be many changes in the current United squad this summer.
Man United are set to part ways with both Casemiro and Eriksen. Manuel Ugarte is set to play as holding midfielder but will need a proper partner alongside him. Kobbie Mainoo is available but he is more effective in the upper part of pitch.
Zubimendi can form a solid partnership in middle with Ugarte. However, it will not be easy for United to convince the Spaniard. They are set to miss not only UCL but every other European competition too. Hence, the player may reject the offer as other clubs may offer him better deal.
Gunners can be still seen as favourites to land Zubimendi. They will do all in their power to sign him as there will be opening in midfield. In addition, they are also keeping eye on Joshua Kimmich who can be signed as free agent.
