Matheus Cunha is Now a Man United Player

Manchester United have wrapped up a £62.5 million deal for Brazilian forward Matheus Cunha. This marks Ruben Amorim’s first signing of the summer rebuild.

Matheus Cunha Joins United After Standout Season at Wolves

Manchester United have officially signed Matheus Cunha from Wolverhampton Wanderers for a fee of £62.5 million. Cunha enjoyed his one of his best seasons in the Premier League this term. And now he is Ruben Amorim‘s first signing as manager at Old Trafford.

Cunha’s move is still subject to plenty of documentation. But, he’s already passed his medical and agreed personal terms. The former Atletico Madrid striker scored 15 goals and provided six assists in 33 league appearances for Wolves last season. He finished well ahead of any Utd player in terms of goal contributions.

His red-hot form caught the eye of Utd scouts. And so the deal has been in the works for months. That is in spite of the player recently signing a new four-year contract at Molineux.

United Set to Hand Cunha Iconic No. 10 Shirt

The Red Devils will reportedly pay the £62.5m transfer fee in three instalments of £20.85m across two years. This comes after Wolves turned down a five-year payment proposal. Cunha was in the city of Manchester with his pregnant wife Gabriela just hours before the announcement. That was showing signs for many to believe that a transfer was likely.

The striker will also inherit Marcus Rashford’s iconic No. 10 shirt as per reports. And for Utd, he is evidently a fresh start in attack as they want to erase last season. Last campaign, the team top scorers managed just eight goals.

With Cunha onboard, it is clear that Red Devils are looking to have a more lethal and dynamic front line for the next campaign. Amorim and Cunha were even seen chatting after Wolves’ win at Old Trafford earlier this year. That was a clear hint that this move was in the works for some time.
