Man United secure the future of Bendito Mantato

Manchester United have one of the most successful academy in the world. Over the years it has produced some of the top talents who have played an important role in United’s history. Recently we saw Alejandro Garnacho and Kobbie Mainoo emerging as high quality youngsters. Both players are now important players for Erik Ten Hag’s side. United constantly work to improve their youth side. One of the player that surely has bright future is Bendito Mantato. Several clubs have shown interest in signing the 16 year old winger. However, United have now secured Mantato and signed a new deal with him.

Who is Bendito Mantato

Mantato currently plays for Man United’s academy sides. He is only 16 years old. Mantato comes from an Angolan heritage and citizenship. However the 16 year old has decided to represent England on international level. Mantato’s preferred position is right wing but he has been widely versatile in the past. He has played as a left winger too. In addition, he even featured as defender on some occasions.

Mantato has been constantly improving and now has become very good in attacking. Hence, he is majorly used in the forward. Mantato’s left foot is very strong. The 16 year old cuts inside from the right wing and shoots a powerful shot. Along with it, Mantato is very quick and is always aware on the pitch. These qualities have drawn a comparision with England international Bukayo Saka.

United tie down Mantato to new deal

The Red Devils have tied down Bendito Mantato to a new deal and secured his services for the future. It was reported that number of Premier League clubs were interested in 16 years old winger but United are able to beat them all. The dynamic winger has scored six goals in seven under-18 Premier League matches in the 2023/24 season for Manchester United. Back in March, Mantato scored four goals against Blackburn Rovers where his side registerd 5-2 win. Mantato has also made his Premier League 2 debut and has also made appearance for the England’s under-16 team.

According to Manchester Evening News, Newcastle United, Chelsea, Brighton and Liverpool were interested in signing the 16 year old winger. Amongst those clubs, Newcastle were keen on signing Mantato which would have required them to pay six digit compensation fee to Red Devils. Recently, Newcastle received compensation fee from United for Dan Ashworth.

Dan Ashworth has been very busy since his arrival. Erik Ten Hag has been given a contract extension. The club is now preparing the arrival of Dutch duo to Old Trafford. Matthijs De Ligt and Joshua Zirkzee are very close to sign for United. Along with first team, the Red Devils are also focusing on their youth side.

Bendito Mantato has signed a scholarship deal with Man United which contains a pre-contract deal which will be triggered once he turns 17. The Red Devils have faith in the youngster and would like to see him playing for United’s first team soon.

Newcastle’s youth team activity so far

Despite failing to sign Mantato, Newcastle United have been very busy in signing young talents. They have secured the signing of Aaron Epia from Everton, CJ Afumuzor from Portsmouth. Now the Magpies are after Rory Finneran of Blackburn Rovers.

Finneran is only 16 years old and has already made his first team debut for Blackburn in FA Cup in January. In addition, he has featured regularly in under-21 team. He will sign a scholarship deal with Newcastle. Later, Finneran will be able to sign his first team contract once he turns 17 in february.
