Who is the Man United star in question?
The star in question here is Marcus Rashford who is currently on loan at Aston Villa. He has came through United’s academy and was their best player not a long time ago. In the 2022/23 season, he scored 30 goals and picked 9 assists to showcase his worth for United.
However, Rashford struggled to maintain that form last season. He scored only 8 goals and picked 5 assists which resulted in him falling down the pecking order. This season, Rashford failed to impress yet again and as a result, United decided to send him on loan.
Rashford joined Aston Villa and once again started to shine bright. He scored 4 goals and picked 5 assists in 17 games under Unai Emery. Aston Villa have £40 million option to buy Rashford permanently but the player is unwilling to join them on permanent basis.
Rashford wants to join Barcelona
The 27 year old wants to join Barcelona this summer. But, The I Paper have reported that the Spanish giants are unwilling to meet his £40 million price tag. This may result in the failure of deal as United want to raise funds and are not interested to negotiate on lower price.
Barca have Raphinha as the left winger right now. The Brazilian has been one of the best players in the world this season. Hence, they may not go for Rashford in strong manner this summer. Although the Englishman can play as a striker, the Spanish giants will look to lower the transfer fee as they are also struggling with finances.
