- Man United now have lead to sign Ousmane Diomande
- Diomande is already on the radar of Arsenal
- Ruben Amorim will play a big role in player’s future
Man United are keen to improve their defence. They already have six defenders but three out of those are in the final year of their contract. Those three are Harry Maguire, Jonny Evans and Victor Lindelof.
All of these defenders have not been able to impress in the recent seasons. This will result in the club parting with them in search of new, young and quality defenders.
On the other hand, Arsenal have the best defensive depth in England. Infact, they have best defence in whole Europe at the moment despite their poor results in recent days.
Gunners may plan to sign another defender due to uncertain future of current stars like Jakub Kiwior. In addition, Tomiyasu is still injured while Tierney and Zinchenko are very likely to depart from North London club.
Lastly, Gunners have been heavily worried about the future of William Saliba. Saliba is wanted by Real Madrid and hence Arsenal may plan for his replacement. Diomande could have fitted in that place but now United seem to hijack Mikel Arteta’s plans.
Man United take lead in the race for Ousmane Diomande
As per Fichajes, the Red Devils are leading the race for the Sporting star. It is due to new United boss Ruben Amorim. The Portugese will play a big part in shaping up the defender’s future.
Firstly, Amorim likes to play with 3-4-3 formation. This will force United to sign another defender and as per the reports the club is prepared to back the manager. United will allow Amorim to sign the best players who fit in his plans perfectly.
Diomande has €80 million release clause in his current contract. The Red Devils have already shown that they can spend big on defenders. They signed Harry Maguire for much higher price in 2019.
Along with Diomande, United are also monitoring Jarrad Branthwaite. They already had two bids rejected this summer from Everton. But, this does not seem to keep the Reds Devils away from luring around him.
