Man United are keen to sign Liam Delap this summer. But, they are not sure about landing the English striker. Hence, they have French striker as a backup option.
The Red Devils are set to sign a new striker this summer. Ruben Amorim feels that the clubs lacks a clinical number nine. He is keen to resolve the goal-scoring issues as soon as possible. The Portugese will be backed by the club to bring in a new striker this summer.
Firstly, both Hojlund and Zirkzee are likely to get sold this summer. They have failed to impress at Old Trafford after arriving form Italy. As a result, the Red Devils are keen to sell him as it will help in raising funds for a new striker.
United have Liam Delap as the top priority this summer. The 22 year old has been very good in Premier League for Ipswich Town. He has scored 12 goals and picked 2 assists for the struggling side of Ipswich. He will be available for £30 million which is his recently activated release clause.
However, United are not fully confident about signing Delap. The 22 year old is wanted across whole Europe. In England, Chelsea are trying hard to sign him. Delap may snub United for their unavailability in Champions League. Hence, the Red Devils are monitoring his backup options.
Man United view French striker as Delap alternative
According to Caught Offside, the Red Devils are showing interest in Jean Phillipe Mateta. The 27 year old is playing a big role for Crystal Palace right now. United may force Palace to sell him after convincing the striker to join them.
Mateta has scored 17 goals and picked 4 assists this season. He will not be the name that will excite the fans. But, he will surely be a great addition to the club due to his experience of playing in Premier League. In addition, he can cost less than other big names.
