This weekend’s Premier League action features two fallen giants. As Man City and Man United resume their rivalry at the Etihad Stadium in Sunday’s derby. Ruben Amorim, the manager of the Red Devils, had already got the better off the Citizens in the UCL with Sporting, last month.
But this will be his first taste of derby day since he took over the 20-time English champions. While both the clubs are suffering through rough stage of the season, the pressure is immense. Man United faced back to back defeats in the last two league games against Arsenal and Forest. It was Amorim’s first setback since joining the club.
However, there are some positive signs ahead of the clash. United’s recent fixture resulted in a 2-1 win over Viktoria Plzen in the UEL midweek. After conceding a first half goal, the Red Devils redeemed themselves in the second half. Striker Rasmus Hojlund came in the rescue to score a brace and win it for his team. It also helped them to enter the top 8 of the league table, and they are now close to qualify directly for the knockouts.
On the other hand, City are having nightmare of a couple of months. The Sky Blue’s have failed miserably across all competitions in the last ten games. Securing only a win in the league against the Forests. Their most recent interaction resulted in a 2-0 defeat against Juventus in the UCL midweek. It will be the easiest time for the Red Devils to dominate over City.
