Manchester United 1-2 Sheffield United Post-Match Analysis:

Manchester United controlled the possession and moved the ball pretty well but they could not break the stubborn Blades’ defence. United could not manage a single opening and the only on target came from Greenwood from 30 yards.

Sheffield defended quite superb in the first half and they got a goal against the run of play from a corner. John Fleck’s corner was guided by left-wing-back Kean Bryan where De Gea should have done better.

United did not manage to put Aaron Ramsdale under pressure at all in the first half and they were behind yet again in a match.

In the second half, the story didn’t change. Manchester United kept the possession but those passing in front of The Blades defence had no purpose. They could not manage a single opening in the whole game.

The Red Devils got the equaliser from a corner on the 64th-minute mark, a great ball from Telles, and an even better headed finish from Harry Maguire.

But their joy didn’t last long as Sheffield United score again and went ahead. The substitute Oliver Burke’s shot deflected Tuanzebe putting De Gea completely wrong foot.

In the end, Solskjær made few substitutions but United could not find the equaliser.

Notable Performances:

Harry Maguire(CB) – (7.5/10)(Manchester United): Scored the goal and his distribution was good as well, in defence he didn’t make any mistake.

John Fleck(CM) – (7/10)(Sheffield United): Worked extremely hard in midfield and delivered a great corner for the first goal.

Anthony Martial(CF) – (5.5/10)(Manchester United): Could not involve himself as much as he should have done. He looked lost a bit, he should come off rather than Greenwood in the second half.

Manchester United will play away to Arsenal in their next match on Saturday night in the Premier League and Sheffield United will play against Manchester City in Etihad Stadium on Saturday as well.
