Manchester United aim young forward for first signing in the transfer window

Manchester United have had a very shaky start to the transfer window. The transfer window is normally made for clubs to improve their squad. However, the opposite of improvement has been going on at Manchester United. Ever since the transfer window opened, they have not been able to make a single signing. They have been losing out on many important players and even their own.

As soon as the transfer window opened, French defender Raphael Varane announced that he would be departing the club. Varane was a key part of the United back line and losing him will be difficult. He was later followed by Anthony Martial, who also decided to depart the club. However, both players were on high wages, and this definitely helped the club financially. Players like Mason Greenwood and Jadon Sancho are both expected to be either loaned out or sold very soon.

However, Erik Ten Hag has started developing plans for the club’s future. Ben Jacobs has reported that he has his eyes on a ditch player. This player plays forward and will be a good replacement for Anthony Martial. He is even currently representing his country in Euro 2024. The player being discussed here is Dutch forward Joshua Zirkzee.

Speaking to GiveMeSport, Jacobs provided an update on United and Joshua Zirkzee:

“€40 million is seen as an excellent deal, so there’s not going to be a problem for Manchester United in negotiating with Bologna. It’s all about working out where the player’s preferences lie and establishing the overall cost of the deal. The agent fees, in particular, are very high. They’re somewhere in the region of €8 million. So, Manchester United need to work out whether that’s value, but at this stage, the advanced talks are more focused around where Zirkzee really wants to go, Milan or Manchester United.”

This will give Manchester United a lot of direction for the future as well.
