Manchester United is interested in yet another young highly-rated 17-year-old Austrian wonderkid Yusuf Demir from Rapid Wien. But it won’t be an easy task to land him at Old Trafford as Barcelona are also interested in him.
Signing young players from around the world is not a new thing for Manchester United. Since the arrival of Ole Gunner Solskjær, the manager is looking to sign young and hungry players with great potential who can prove themselves in the Manchester United shirt.
Manchester United bought 19-year-old Uruguayan winger Facundo Pellistri from Peñarol, also they bought 18-year-old Ivory Coast winger Amad Diallo from the Italian side, Atalanta, this summer.
The Red Devils are now heavily linked with another Ecuadorian central Defensive Midfielder Moises Caicedo from Independiente del Valle. Caicedo scored against Uruguay for Ecuador in the recent South American World Cup qualifier.
Is Yusuf Demir next on the radar for Manchester United?
Yusuf Demir made his debut as a 16-year-old in the 19/20 season for the Austrian Bundesliga side Rapid Wein. The left-footed U21 Austrian International young star is a forward player. He can also play as a Right Winger and as an attacking midfield position.
The 17-year-old Austrian played 10 games so far in the league this season and scored and assisted one goal each. Demir has also played 4 matches in the Europa League this season and scored a goal against Dundalk. He played the full match against Arsenal at Emirates Stadium in the Europa League.
Yusuf Demir is in the perfect age group what Manchester United are trying to find. He already broke into the squad of Rapid Wein at the age of 17-year-old.
However, the reports are suggesting that it won’t be a cakewalk for Manchester United to sign Yusuf Demir, they’ll have to face competition, Barcelona are also seemingly interested in the Austrian youth international.
In recent history suggesting that Manchester United‘s incompetent board tends to lose out transfer targets when there are competitions from other clubs, the examples are Erling Braut Haaland, Jude Bellingham, and Matthijs de Light.
It will be very difficult for Chief Executive of Manchester United Ed Woodward to win the race for Yusuf Demir if Barcelona come in for the highly talented forward.
Rapid Vienna won’t let their asset go for cheap and in the Austrian Bundesliga, little money can go a long way and whoever will come to an agreement they will have to pay a big money for Yousuf Demir who is valued at €5 million according to the transfer market.
The recent financial situation of Barcelona is very bad which can give an advantage for Manchester United. But still, it won’t be an easy task because beating Barcelona in the transfer race is a very hard thing to do.
