Manchester United are interested in Lazio’ midfield star

Wolves

Manchester United are reportedly planning to sign Lazio’ Serbian midfielder Sergej Milinkovic-Savic in the upcoming summer transfer window. Milinkovic-Savic was previously linked with a move to Old Trafford back in the time of José Mourinho era. However, Lazio asked for a huge transfer fee and the Red Devils had to backtrack from the deal.

However, this time the situation is much different. As Lazio is having a financial problem for the pandemic and selling their 26-year-old star asset could be an option for the Eagles to balance their book.

Simone Inzaghi’s side bought the 26-year-old Serbian midfielder from Belgian side KRC Genk in August 2015 for €18 million. Currently, Milinkovic-Savic has a contract with Biancocelesti until the summer of 2024.

Manchester United interested in Milinkovic-Savic:

According to reports in Italy, Manchester United are among the willing parties to land the Lazio star Sergej Milinkovic-Savic. Real Madrid and Paris Saint-Germain are also in for the goal-scoring Lazio midfielder.

The Serbian international made 28 appearances for Lazio in Serie A this season. He managed to score 8 goals and 9 assists. He came into the limelight in the 2017-2018 season where he scored 12 goals and 3 assists in 35 Serie A appearances for Lazio.

Manchester United might want to include Andreas Pereira in this deal who is currently on a simple loan at Lazio until the end of the season.

“I have a long contract, I don’t think about the future, but to finish in the top four with Lazio”. – Sergej Milinkovic-Savic on his future.

The future of the Red Devils’ star French midfielder Paul Pogba is still unclear. As his agent Mino Riola said, Pogba won’t sign a new contract with Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side and wants to leave in the summer. Milinkovic-Savic could be a good fit for Solskjaer if Pogba leaves in the summer.

It won’t be an easy task for Manchester United to sign the Lazio midfielder Milinkovic-Savic. As there will be fierce competition for his signature from other European giants like Real Madrid and PSG
