Manchester Derby: Predicted Manchester City Line-up vs Man United

Manchester City will meet Manchester United for the 183rd time on Saturday at Old Trafford, with just one point and one place separating the neighbors in the Premier League.

The teams have played 182 matches in all competitions, United winning 76, City 54, and the remaining 52 having been drawn. But right now City is much consistent and they are playing higher-level football than United.

Citizens sitting 7th in the league table with 18 points in 10 games, Red Devils are 6th with 19 points in the same number of matches.

Manchester City hasn’t had a great start to the season in terms of their standard where they already lost 12 points. They are 6 points off from the top of the table with a game in hand.

Predicted Manchester City line up against Manchester United:

Sergio Aguero came on as a substitute and scored on the second half in midweek in Champions League against Olympique De Marseille after recovering from a knee injury.

However, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that the Argentine forward won’t be in the starting lineup for the derby. When asked if Agüero will start in the derby this Saturday, Guardiola responded with a firm ‘no’. He doesn’t want to rush Agüero’s comeback and risk another injury.

Pep Guardiola stated:

“His instinct to score goals will always be there. The important thing is he made a good three or four training sessions and the reaction after the training session was good.

He played 25 minutes and scored a goal and was active. Step by step. What is important is how his reaction will be tomorrow after this effort.”

– Pep Guardiola

In the absence of Aguero, Gabriel Jesus will start in the forward position, Ruben Dias and Aymeric Laporte will be the defensive pair. It will be interesting to see who will start at the left-back, Joao Cancelo started that position in the big matches so he should start as well. Ilkay Gundogan picked up a knock in the last match and he will be in doubt for the match.

The Starman Kevin De Bruyne will start at the Central attacking midfielder position. Raheem Sterling and Riyad Mahrez will start in both wings.

The Citizens will dominate the ball against an inconsistent United side. United will try to soak up the pressure and hit City on the break.

Unless Guardiola surprises us with something extraordinary tactically, this should be the starting Xl.

Look-out for Manchester City:

Manchester City has scored only seventeen goals in the league as much as Crystal Palace. Aguero’s absence is the main reason for their lack of goals and Gabriel Jesus hasn’t been able to feel the void of Sergio Aguero.

Man City has to win to prove themselves as the contenders for the title. They will try to exploit the bad home form of United.

Manchester United will also be looking to win this fixture after the Champions League exit to make the fans happy. It is the perfect sort of game for that. They will have to win this game to keep themselves for the top four or the title race.
