Manchester United vs Manchester City: Preview and Predicted Line-ups

Manchester United will be hosting Manchester City at Old Trafford in what will be their 183rd Derby clash on Saturday with only one point separating them in the Premier League.

This is the first Derby of this season and the first-ever to be played without fans.

Both the English giants had a disappointing start to their season with Manchester City being the most affected. United have faired 6 points more than their previous season after 10 games, whereas City has dropped 4 points.

Manchester United bowed out of the Champions League after losing 3-2 to RB Leipzig and will now play in the Europa League. They will be hoping to bounce back after the disappointing week they had. And the Derby might just be the perfect match to do so.

Manchester City on the other hand will be hoping to maintain their great form. They are through to the round of 16 of the Champions League, defeating Marseille 3-0 and topping their group. They have also not conceded a single goal in their previous 5 outings which will be an immense morale booster.

The last season, we saw the Red part of the city dominate the Derbies, winning 3 out of their 4 meets. That also included the league double over them.

Ole mentioned that Anthony Martial is fit and would feature in the match. Not sure if he will be starting or sitting on the bench. Martial’s has scored in 3 of the 4 Derbies.

Edinson Cavani is still recovering and his featuring is still a doubt after he had sustained an injury last matchday.

Fred will be returning to the squad after missing out the last 2 games. We’ll have to see if Ole Gunnar Solskjaer will be featuring Pogba. He was impressive in his previous 2 matches scoring back-to-back goals. But the statement his agent gave before the previous match has made Ole think if he is committed to the club.

Luke Shaw has returned from his injury and made his appearance against Leipzig. Telles has been impressive covering Shaw’s place during his injury, and he might be retaining his spot.

The city’s only injury concerns are those of Eric Gracia and IIkay Gundogan as they were forced off on Thursday. However, Pep Guardiola has confirmed that Sergio Aguero will not be playing in the Derby.

The Red Devils have a unique way, to win matches from a losing position this season. They might want to reconsider that strategy tomorrow.

Their neighbors, on the other hand, have won the most matches for a visiting side at Old Trafford winning 6 of their last 7 matches.
