Manchester United in Contact With Kieran Trippier?

According to a report from Telegraph, Manchester United have held talks with Atletico Madrid’s right-back Kieran Trippier over a move in the January transfer window.

Trippier had joined Atletico Madrid in 2019 from Tottenham Hotspur and since then he has become a favorite to start in the right-back position where he has made 35 appearances now.

The 30-year-old English internaional right-back had signed a three-year contract with the Spanish giants till 2022, however, he is still open to a move to the Premier League.

Manchester United ready to sign the Trippier in January?

Manchester have had a busy summer transfer window where they have splashed 75 million on signing players such as Alex Telles, Donny Van de Beek, Edinson Cavani, Amad Diallo, and Facundo Pellistri.

Red Devils had made these signings for the purpose of improving their squad and the reason for signing them is paying of as they sit comfortably 4th in the Premier League with just 5 points adrift from leaders Liverpool with a game in hand.

Therefore they will not look to make any more marquee signings in the winter transfer window however nothing can be ruled out as they would look to sign players if the need arises.

United held talks with Trippier over a possible move as they would want a right-back who would be a backup to Aaron Wan Bisakka.

However, a move to United could turn out to be tricky as the defender was handed a 10-week ban from football after breaching FA betting rules.

Therefore a transfer for the right-back would seem unlikely to materialize leaving United to decide which another right-back they can turn their attention to so it seems like Kieran Trippier will remain with Atletico for the rest of the season.
