Manchester United to lose goalkeepers Henderson and Romero in January?

Manchester United goalkeeper Dean Henderson is planning to leave the club in January after a lack of involvement since arriving from the loan in the summer.

The 23-year-old old returned to Old Trafford in the summer after a two-year loan spell with Sheffield United, where his performances earned him a call-up to the England set-up.

The Red Devil’s manager Ole Gunner Solskaer decided to give Henderson a long-term contract with a hefty wage to create a competition with David De Gea for his lack of consistency in the last 18 months. That made Henderson believing he had a one-shot chance of capitalizing on the Spaniard’s displays.

However, Henderson’s return has had the opposite effect on De Gea, with La Furia Roja stopper recapturing his best form this season due to the added competition on his place.

Henderson felt a return to United would boost his chances of being named England’s no.1 but the goalkeeper is now concerned about his spot in the squad and knows he needs first-team football to guarantee a spot under Gareth Southgate.

The young goalkeeper has therefore decided he needs first-team football to boost his chances of making the England squad and to earn that he is willing to move away from Manchester United on a loan spell at least.

Sergio Romero situation similar to Dean Henderson?

Manchester United’s other goalkeeper and the forgotten man Sergio Romero and also his wife is getting frustrated with the behavior of the club with him.

The Argentine goalkeeper was seeking an Old Trafford exit once Dean Henderson returned and relegated him to the third choice.

United wanted £5 million for Romero but no club was prepared to meet that valuation. It meant the shot-stopper had to stay put which bought about an angry reaction from him and his wife.

Currently Manchester United pays weekly wages of £575,000 to goalkeepers having dished out lucrative deals to De Gea and Henderson in recent times.

But the Red Devils could now accept as little as £2.5m for the 33-year-old who has been left out of their Premier League and Champions League squads.

Romero made 17 appearances in all competitions last term but hasn’t got a look in this term. He joined Manchester United in 2015 under Louis Van Gaal but has never been able to depose De Gea as no 1. As a result, he has made just seven Premier League appearances with the majority of his outings coming in cup competitions.

Romeo and Henderson both were linked with a move to Everton and Chelsea were in for Henderson and Leeds were for Romero but now they are all settled in this position.

It will be interesting to see what United will do after Romero and Henderson wanting out, they will remain with only one recognize goalkeeper.
