Manchester United make their first contact with River Plate’s Julian Alvarez. The Red Devils are currently struggling in the Premier League as they find themselves in the 6th spot. Despite signing players like Cristiano Ronaldo, Raphael Varane, and Jadon Sancho over the summer, they have not performed well enough. However, Manchester United are going to be active during the January transfer window.
Ralf Ragnick could be making substantial changes to the current United squad. The problems that Manchester United were facing early on in the season, could now be resolved under new management. The Premier League giants will hope for a turnaround during the second half of the season. Under Ragnick, they will hope to channelize their potential to the fullest until the end of this season.
The Red Devils are reportedly going to freshen up their squad and add more quality for better results next year. Julian Alvarez has emerged as a player that Manchester United will go after during the winter transfer window. On the other hand, Edinson Cavani could be on his way to FC Barcelona in January as well. Anthony Martial is also ready to leave the club in January 2022 and Alvarez could arrive as a replacement and the Argentinian can add spirit to the team.
Julian Alvarez opens up about his Future amid interests from Manchester United, Juventus, Bayern Munich and other European clubs
Julian Alvarez is open for a move away from River Plate at the beginning of the new year. According to reports, the 21-year-old could be on his way to join Manchester United during the January window. Reports have also suggested that the Red Devils have shown their interest in Alvarez as recently as last week.
Alvarez has established himself as one of the exquisite attacking players in Argentine football. He blew up into the scene and found the back of the net 18 times with six assists to help River Plate win the Primera Division title last month. The Argentina international is continuing to attract widespread attention due to his extraordinary performances.
The Argentinian champions are hopeful of convincing Alvarez to stay at the club for another season. However, the 21-year-old’s astonishing numbers for River Plate have caught the attention of some Europe’s elite clubs including Bayern Munich, Juventus, Atletico Madrid, Real Madrid, AC Milan, and Aston Villa.
“Frankly, I don’t know what will happen, now I’m only thinking about celebrating. In January we will see,’ Alvarez told reporters following River Plate’s 4-0 win over Colon. We all know how much the World Cup means for a player. When I make my decision I’ll choose what’s best for me.”

Manchester United are well aware of the Argentine’s release clause of £17million in his contract at River Plate. But his release clause will rise up to £21m in the final ten days of the transfer window. Ralf Ragnick’s side can wait until Alvarez’s contract expires next winter to make their move. While competition would likely be fierce for the Argentina international given he would be available on a free transfer.
