United ready to finalise signing of £30m-rated world cup winner – Fans will like this

Emiliano Martínez

Rúben Amorim is said to be weighing his options carefully when it comes to Manchester United’s goalkeeping situation, as doubts remain over whether Senne Lammens is truly ready to take on the mantle of first-choice keeper, hence United are eyeing Emiliano Martínez.

The 21-year-old Belgian arrived from Royal Antwerp on deadline day in September, viewed as one for the future rather than an immediate starter.

For weeks, he watched from the sidelines as Altay Bayındır struggled to find form between the posts.

When Amorim finally gave Lammens his opportunity in the recent 2–0 win over Sunderland, the youngster seized it — keeping United’s first clean sheet of the season and delivering a composed, confident performance that caught attention across Carrington.

Emiliano Martínez – Amorim pushes for a new goalkeeper

Yet despite his promising debut, Amorim is reportedly unconvinced that Lammens can handle the pressure of leading United’s defence in the long run.

Spanish outlet Fichajes claims the United are ready to “finalise the signing” of the goalkeeper in January, reigniting interest in Aston Villa’s World Cup-winning shot-stopper Emiliano Martínez.

Amorim is believed to see Martínez as the ideal mix of authority and experience — someone capable of organizing a backline still finding its rhythm.

United had explored the possibility of signing him over the summer, but Villa’s valuation of more than £30 million proved a stumbling block.

That figure is expected to remain the same heading into winter, yet Amorim’s insistence may push the club to reconsider.

Even so, not everyone at Old Trafford agrees that an expensive signing is the right move. According to reports relayed by The Peoples Person, Lammens has already made a strong impression on United’s coaching staff.

His professionalism, work ethic, and willingness to learn have all earned him quiet admiration behind the scenes.

Some believe that with the right guidance, Lammens could evolve into the dependable No.1 Amorim is searching for — a long-term solution rather than a quick fix.

For now, though, the January transfer window may reveal whether United plans to trust in potential or turn to proven experience.
