Manolo Diaz has finally stepped down as the head coach of SC East Bengal. After facing immense criticism regarding his coaching style, the management held talks with him about a mutual termination. At last, he decided to step down with his reputation intact

Speculations are rife regarding his successor. A number of names like Elco Schattorie and Mario Rivera were popping up. But according to our information, Renedy Singh will be taking the reins as the interim coach of the squad.

Renedy Singh to step in as interim coach

Having already played with the club previously, Renedy Singh is not an unfamiliar face with East Bengal fans. He began his career at the youth ranks of the Kolkata-based side. After that, he played for their senior squad from 1996-2000. Singh has also donned the colors of Mohun Bagan, Chirag United, JCT, United Sikkim, Shillong Lajong and foreign Clubs like CSKA Sofia. He played 72 matches for the Indian National team, scoring 12 goals.

His coaching career began at Pune City FC, as an assistant coach. He has also led Neroca FC. Last season he was assistant coach when Liverpool legend Robbie Fowler was at SCEB. This season, he will take over from Manolo Diaz after being promoted to Interim Coach .

Team Manager Mridul Banerjee will be at his side for the next match. In recent times, Mridul Banerjee is regarded as one of the best Indian coaches. He shepherded the Bengal Football team to Santosh Trophy glory. He has had his fair share of ISL experience as the assistant coach of Delhi Dynamos.

Can we expect new faces?

Currently, the Shree Cement officials are in talks with the former SCEB head coach Mario Rivera. They have already begun negotiations with him. If everything goes according to plan, then we might see Rivera as the new head coach of SC East Bengal.

Meanwhile, SCEB officials are in talks with certain Indian footballers as they look to bolster the squad. Talks are on with Rowlin Borges and Davinder Singh. Will the new year usher in a ray of hope for the struggling Red & Gold Brigade? Only time will reveal the answer to such questions.
