Gunners captain Martin Odegaard has returned to London after ruling himself out of national duties with Norway. He initially flew to the capital of Norway at the start of this week. To participate for the Nations League fixtures against Slovenia and Kazakhstan. But decided to return to North London, to complete his rehab.
The 25-year-old suffered from a horrible ankle injury in September with his national side. He was almost out for 2 months until last weekend. As he played his first match since injury on Sunday that too was a London derby against Chelsea. The Norwegian feels that he is not fully fit yet and returned to the club camp after listening to his body.
After the withdrawal Martin Odegaard said to the Norwegian Football Association,
“I need to listen to my body, complete this rehab process and get my foot back in good shape. The hope has always been to be able to play the national matches and if I hadn’t played on Sunday it would have been out of the question to participate anyway. It’s a very bad feeling to lose these games, I love playing for Norway and with this team.”
Martin Odegaard to prepare for upcoming Arsenal fixtures
We all know how important is Martin Odegaard for Arsenal. His absence was clearly visible for the last two months. The Gunners lacked creativity and aggression without their captain. They dropped 10 out of possible 21 points in the Premier League since September.
So, Arteta will not want to miss the 25-year-old no more. Martin Odegaard will be training at the Arsenal camp for the next two weeks to get ready for the challenges ahead of them next month. They will face some tough games and will definitely need the help of the Norwegian and his leadership.
