Mason Greenwood attracting top clubs from across whole europe

Mason Greenwood was once considered as starboy and future of Manchester United. However the Englishman faced a lot of trouble due to various reasons and had to leave Old Trafford. The 22 year old winger spent the last year in Spain with Getafe to resume his career after a long hault. Greenwood still has contract with Red Devils and was in Spain on loan. However, United are not considering on selling him this summer as he doesn’t fit in Ten Hag’s plans. Mason Greenwood is attracting lots of clubs as the winger has shown his worth in La Liga.

Mason Greenwood was hight rated by football greats ever since his United debut. Greenwood has been with United since he was 6 years old in 2007. Eventually he developed very quickly to break into the first team at the age of just 17. He became the club’s second youngest player to feature in an european competition.

Greenwood was on the top of his game until 2022. The winger scores 35 goals and provided 10 assists in his spell for United. However in January 2022, things turned west as Greenwood was arrested. This resulted in United suspending the player. Greenwood was arrested for attempted rape, making threats to kills, bodily harm and controlling behaviour. Later he was released on bail due to the key witness withdrawing all of the charges. However, Greenwood didn’t make into United’s squad and hence to resume his career he moved to Spanish side Getafe.

Greenwood’s recent season

Greenwood was sent on a season-long loan by United to Getafe. The 22 year old winger resumed his career after a long hault with the La Liga side. Greenwood looked sharp throughout the season. He made 36 appearances for Getafe out of which 33 came in La Liga. The winger scored 10 goals and provided 6 assists for Spanish side across all competitions.

Greenwood has been attracting a lot of top clubs with his performances in 20223/24 season. The 20 year old winger achieved the overall rating of 7 for La Liga season. Along with 8 goals, Greenwood registerd 102 shots in La Liga out of which 35 were on target. The winger’s passing accuracy was 81.8% throughout the season. He created 36 chances and registered 6 assists. Greenwood completed 72 dribbles and won 43 fouls.

Greenwood’s amazing display for Getafe earned him Getafe player of the season award. Getafe were interested in making Greenwood’s deal permanent. However the €40 million demanded price by Premier League side is proving very high for the Spanish club.

Lazio’s deal for Mason Greenwood

Lazio president Claudio Lotito has made a bid of €20 million including 50% of any further resale value. Lotito was reported very close to achieve the services of Greenwood last season. He planning to bring the Englishman in an attempt to regain the trust of Lazio fans. Lotito is also keeping an eye on Gudmundsson if they are unable to complete the signing of Greenwood. Along with Lazio, Napoli, Juventus and Atletico Madrid are other clubs interested in 22 year old winger.

Greenwood attracting French giants

According to reports, French side Marseille have submitted superior bid to United for Greenwood than that of one made by Lazio. According to Gianluca Di Marzio, Marseille are confident on achieving the services of Greenwood. The french club will be entering the new season with a new coach. Roberto De Zerbi is expected to enter the new season with crucial and important changes. Signing of Greenwood seems to be one of priority as the club could use his attacking instincts to make a difference.

It has been reported that Marseille have submitted a bid of €25 million along with €5 add ons. Lazio and Marseille have officially submitted their bids and other clubs are expected to do the same. However nothing has been concrete yet and Greenwood is expected to return at United for pre-season training on monday. In contrast the other reports suggested that United are keen to part ways with Greenwood before monday.
