Arsenal are keen to improve thier midfield next years and hence were linked with Carlos Baleba. But the 20 year old has now revealed that he does not want to move away from Brighton. This will come as a blow for Gunners along with their arch rivals Tottenham Hotspurs who were also keen.
Arsenal want to improve their midfield next year as two of their stars are close to exit. In addition, both may leave for free as they are in their final year of contract. Those players are Thomas Partey and Jorginho.
Even if any of these stars stay at the club, they will need proper replacement very soon. Partey is 31 years old whereas Jorginho is 32 years old. Hence, Mikel Arteta wants a young star who can secure the Arsenal future for long term.
Carlos Baleba speaks about his future
Baleba who joined Brighton for €27 million last year, got good playing time in debut season due to the departure of Caicedo. Now this season he has impressed even more and is now regulat starter for Fabian Hurzeler. Baleba recently spoke about his future where he said that he is unwilling to leave Brighton anytime soon.
“I don’t really think like that; playing for two or three years and then leaving. Me? I just work. In my head its all about working and helping my club” – Baleba while speaking to Sky Sports.
Baleba then said that he wants to help his teammates and will accept help from them. He explained what he means by saying that others want him to play at highest levels. But this does not excite Baleba and he is only focused on working hard.
Can Arsenal still sign Baleba?
Despite Baleba unwilling to make a move anytime soon, Gunners still have a chance to get his signature. They can submit a huge bid which Brighton will find hard to refuse.
Everyone knows how Brighton carry their business. They sold Moises Caicedo to Chelsea for £115 million which is British record fee. Hence, they can do the same again with Baleba but it will very likely depend on wheter Arsenal are prepared to spend such a big amount for the talented midfielder.
