Mauro Icardi to leave Paris Saint-Germain after just 1 year?

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Mauro Icardi has expressed his wish to leave Paris Saint-Germain. The striker was initially loaned in from Inter Milan in 2019 and then bough in 2020. PSG signed the Argentine on a 4-year contract till 2024. He has had a contract at Paris Saint-Germain until 2024 since last summer. The striker was initially on loan at PSG in early summer 2019 from Inter Milan. The club chose to take up his option to buy a year later in the early summer of 2020. After a first very good season on loan, the final purchase of the Italian was obvious.

Icardi was bought for €50 million by PSG, but the striker has difficulty satisfying the coach Mauricio Pochettino. The only major recruit of summer 2020 after the lifting of his option to buy at €50M plus bonuses of €7-8 million, Mauro Icardi struggles to meet the expectations placed in him at the time of his transfer.

But this 2020-2021 season is going less well. He has played only 19 matches in Ligue 1 during which he was only 11 times a starter. Moreover, Icardi gets along very well with Mbappé on the ground but not at all with Neymar. A lack of complementarity annoying while the Brazilian has just extended until 2025.

Mauro Icardi is maybe a weight for PSG:

The Parisian club is ready to open the door while the family of the player probes the market. For his part, he is thinking about a move to fully relaunch himself while he struggles to really settle at PSG.

The agent and wife of the Paris Saint-Germain striker have already started to work to find a new club for him. Italy would be in the sights of Wanda Nara, who has never hidden her desire to return to the other side of the Alps, where she works in television. The idea of a return to Italy is taking place.

This may depend on the options that come to fruition, as much for the departure as for the replacement of the Argentine. Not to mention the position of coach Mauricio Pochettino, who will put more of his ideas in place next season. He was supposed to be the perfect counterpart to Kylian Mbappé and Neymar, but Icardi has gradually disappeared from circulation. In addition, the striker has strung together injuries, which makes one think of a not really perfect lifestyle at the club.

Today, he is valued at between €35 and 40M. Pochettino has not especially expressed his desire to have a team without Icardi next season. However, PSG wouldn’t say no to getting rid of his €10M annual salary. This year, the club has to face many expenses. These expenses include the extension of Neymar and potentially Kylian Mpabbé, which are very expensive.
