An exciting gameweek of Serie A finished on Sunday night and football goes into the international break.
AC Milan get back to winning ways after a week of a bad spell. The Rossoneri beat Fiorentina by 3-2 away from home at Stadio Artemio Franchi in a very exciting game.
Juventus lost at Allianz Stadium against Benevento, a side that sits 16th, by a second-half goal. And went too far behind the league leader Inter Milan.
Napoli managed back-to-back crucial victories away from home against Milan last week and now AS Roma. Gennaro Gattuso’s side beat Roma by 2-0 at Stadio Olimpico.
Fiorentina 2-3 AC Milan Serie A Match Report:
Milan came into the game after a defeat against Manchester United in UEFA Europa League and a loss to Napoli in Serie A at San Siro by 0-1. So, it was a very important game to get back into the winning ways.
But it was not a walk in the park in Florence against Cesare Prandelli’s side. Milan scored the first goal courtesy of veteran Zlatan Ibrahimovic very early in the game. Their lead didn’t last long, Erick Pulgar equalized from an excellent free-kick for La Viola.
Early in the second half, Frank Ribery gave the lead for Fiorentina. And just when everyone was feeling that this will be three defeats in a row for Stefano Pioli’s side Brahim Diaz came to the rescue and scored the equaliser from a set-piece.
On the 72-minute mark, Hakan Çalhanoğlu produced a great finish right from the corner of the box and scored the all-important winning goal.
With this victory, Milan reduced the gap at the top of the table as Inter Milan’s game was postponed against Sassuolo due to Covid-19 cases. Pioli’s side are second in the Serie A table with 59 points in 28 games and 6 points behind the top and played one extra game.
Juventus 0-1 Benevento Serie A Match Report:
Juventus started the game very badly, they lacked the fluidity, and desire to win the game. The passing was very slow from the midfield and Cristiano Ronaldo was frustrated by the lack of creativity and went wide in search of the ball.
In the second half, Adolfo Gaich scored what was the winning goal for Benevento. And Andrea Pirlo’s side could not find a goal in the rest of the game. Lorenzo Montipo the goalkeeper of Filipo Inzaghi’s side made 8 saves in the game.
This defeat to Juventus means they remain in 3rd place with 55 points in 27 games. Benevento got very important three points in the relegation battle and went 7 points clear from the relegation zone.
AS Roma 0-2 Napoli Match Report:
Napoli started the game off better than Roma and scored two quick fired goals in the first half. Dries Mertens opened the account from a great free-kick and straight after that, he doubled the lead for Gattuso’s side. And Roma was unable to find the back of the net for the whole 90 minutes.
With this victory, Napoli remain 5th with 53 points in 27 games and Roma are 6th with 50 points in 28 games. 4th place Atalanta got 55 points in 28 games.
