Milan closely monitoring the Napoli captain’s contract situation

AC Milan are reportedly willing to bring the Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne at San Siro in the upcoming summer transfer window. If Gennaro Gattuso’s side and Insigne are unable to reach a contract renewal.

Despite an excellent performance on the pitch, the 29-year-old winger and his agent decided not to start talks about the new contract until the end of this season. The Italian international has a contract with Napoli until June 2022.

Insigne has made 30 Serie A appearances this season. Managed to score 17 goals and assisted 5 times. Which helped Napoli to remain in the top four race. Napoli are currently sitting 3rd in the table with 66 points in 33 games.

The Rossoneri have few young talented wingers in their squad. However, they failed to deliver at the crucial stages of the season. So, Insigne will be a very good option for Stefano Pioli on the left-wing. If Milan can manage to finalize the deal.

Will Napoli let their captain Insigne join AC Milan?

According to reports in Italy, the contract renewal talks between Insigne and Napoli are blocked and no news is coming out at the moment. However, Milan are waiting in the background to grab the opportunity to snatch the Napoli captain Lorenzo Insigne from Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

In recent weeks, Milan management has met with the entourage of the Italian international. And it is highly likely that they have talked about Insigne’ future.

In spite of all of this, the situation has changed dramatically. It does not seem likely that the Rossoneri can manage to qualify for the UEFA Champions League. Which looked secure a few weeks ago. So, if Napoli manage to get the top four spot at the end of this season. It is hard to believe that Insigne will leave Napoli for Milan at the end of this season.

However, keeping in mind that only one year remaining in Insigne contract with the Partenopei. This means if they can’t reach a contract renewal Napoli has to sell him this summer. It will be interesting to see if Insigne switches kits this summer or not.
