Mo Salah denied a clear goal-scoring opportunity

Liverpool won their first-leg match against Inter with Mo Salah on the score sheet. The score however could’ve been different.

Liverpool is now at the front foot having won the first leg 2-0. The first have was quite even with both teams having clear chances on goal on many occasions. But in the dying minutes of the first half, a shocking thing happened. Mo Salah was clear on goal and the ref blew the whistle for half-time.

Mo Salah stunned by the decision

The 29-year-old managed to turn away from his man just a few inside their half. The Egyptian suddenly found himself clear on goal when the Polish refree Syzmon blew the whistle.

The incident left Mo Salah as well as many Liverpool players. As a matter of fact, many Liverpool supporters took their disappointment to Twitter. The whole thing nevertheless became useless Liverpool won the match 2-0.

Liverpool broke the deadlock just after 30 minutes of half-time. Roberto Firmino met a fine cross of Robertson, heading it away from Inter goalkeeper Samir Handanović. The Slovenian goalkeeper couldn’t do much about the header and we wouldn’t blame him for that.

Just 8 minutes later Mo Salah scored his goal. The goal also likes the previous one, came off the set-piece. Mo Salah received a deflected ball, which he converted without hesitating. The Egyptian magician has been tipped to regain his famous and most lethal form of 2017-18 this season.

Now it would be an uphill task for Inter to come back in the second leg. Anfield has been one of the most difficult stadiums for the away teams. Even clubs like Barcelona in the past have suffered a lot there. To come back would take a lot more than ‘a good performance’ from the Milan side.
