Mourinho Unhappy with Reguilon after Protocol Breach

About Football Express India - Indian Super League - I-League

Jose Mourinho was unhappy with his summer signing Sergio Reguilon. However, it wasn’t for his performance on the pitch. It was for breaking Covid-19 protocols set by the Government and Tottenham Hotspur.

Mourinho believed Reguilon would be lonely for Christmas this year as his family is still back in Madrid. So, he sent the Spaniard a cooked pig. However, he later found out Reguilon was not alone for Christmas.

He was with the families of teammates Erik Lamela, Giovani Lo Celso and West Ham midfielder Manuel Lanzini. It was an 18-people party in Tier 4 London. The antics were revealed after a family member posted a picture on their Instagram account which was switched to private very quickly.

MOURINHO EXPRESSES HIS DISAPPOINTMENT WITH REGUILON:

Jose Mourinho gave Reguilon a £500 Iberico Ham after Spurs’ game against Manchester City which ended 2-0. A month later, he again made Reguilon stay back after training to make him a whole cooked pig meal for Christmas.

So, considering all Jose Mourinho has done for Reguilon, it is understandable why he is unhappy.

“[It was] an amazing gift. Portuguese piglet – which is amazing for Portuguese and Spanish. I gave him [one] because I was told he was going to spend Christmas on his own. He was not alone as you can see.”

– Jose Mourinho shows his disappointment after 3-0 win over Leeds United.

The Club also released a public statement after it was revealed that 3 of their players broke protocol to celebrate Christmas with friends.

“We are extremely disappointed and strongly condemn this image showing some of our players with family and friends together at Christmas.

Particularly as we know the sacrifices everybody around the country made to stay safe over the festive period.

The rules are clear, there are no exceptions, and we regularly remind all our players and staff about the latest protocols and their responsibilities to adhere and set an example. The matter will be dealt with internally.”

– Tottenham Hotspur released a statement following breach of Covid protocols.

More and more players are breaching Covid-19 protocols. Manchester City‘ Kyle Walker and Benjamin Mendy were also on full blast in the media after they irresponsibly hosted parties. These breaches have directly affected Premier League fixtures. Multiple postponements have affected the already set schedule and now the players have to fix up their behaviour or this season will have to be cancelled.
