Mumbai City FC vs Hyderabad FC: Preview and Predicted Line-ups

Mumbai City FC will face Hyderabad FC on Saturday at the GMC Stadium, Bambolim in the Indian Super League fixture.

The Islanders will look to extend their four-game winning run in the Indian Super League. They started their winning streak with a 2-0 win against their next opposition back in December. Since then, they have defeated Kerala Blasters(2-0), Bengaluru FC(3-1), and ATK Mohun Bagan(1-0).

Hyderabad FC are also on a winning streak. They have won their last two games while scoring eight goals.

Mumbai are currently at the top of the table, five points ahead of ATK Mohun Bagan at the second place. Hyderabad are at fourth, ten points behind their opposition side.

Mumbai City FC vs Hyderabad FC Preview:

The Islanders have never lost against Hyderabad. They played three games, won twice and drew the other game. In their last match, Mumbai defeated them 2-0 with goals from Vignesh and Le Fondre. So they will be high on confidence and look to stretch their unbeaten run to ten matches.

Sergio Lobera’s side has eight different goal scorers in their team. They are also the highest scorers of the tournament and conceded the least number of goals. In their last game against Mohun Bagan, they became the first team to score against them from open play this season.

Mumbai City's defence has conceded only four goals so far

“I’m sure it’s going to be a good game. They play a similar style. They have very good Indian players and also very experienced foreign players. It’s going to be a different game [from the one earlier in the season] because they have a full squad now. But the most important thing for us is to focus on our style of play, and to keep possession of the ball will be very important for us,”

On the other hand, Hyderabad are also in a good form. They have put four past Chennaiyin FC and NorthEast United FC in their last two games. They will look to increase the gap between them and the rest of the teams to solidify their place in the top four with a win.

But there are few things that would worry their head coach Manuel Marquez. They have conceded 13 goals so far this season by facing the least amount of shots in the league(98). This clearly shows the shortcomings of their defence. However, their attacking force has been superior in many games and hence they find themselves in the fourth position.

“They [Mumbai City] have very good players and a very good coach. I continue saying that they will be the champions in the regular season because you know in the semis, not always the best team wins,”

Key Players and Score Prediction:

The whole Mumbai team has been exceptional in the tournament. However, there are certain players who will be key in their next game. Hernan Santana and Mourtada Fall have been rock solid at the back. Their defence has conceded only four goals this season, joint-least with ATK Mohun Bagan. They claimed their sixth clean sheet of the season in the last game.

Their attack also has some flair. Young winger Cy Goddard has shined in the league. Bartholomew Ogbeche scored the winning goal against the Mariners and is hungry for more goals. Adam Le Fondre is another super striker of their team who will be keen to score again against Hyderabad.

Hyderabad FC have many talented Indian players

Hyderabad FC’s young players and Indian players have been terrific so far. Halicharan Narzary is enjoying great form this season as he already netted three times. Liston Colaco was instrumental in their win against NorthEast United. Also, Akash Mishra, Asish Rai, and Mohammed Yasir have contributed to their team with five assists in total.

Although Mumbai have the edge against Hyderabad in Saturday’s game, it would be difficult to stop their buoyant attack from scoring. Moreover, the Islanders have enough strength in the attack to cause problems for the shaky Hyderabad defence.
