Napoli is off to a great start in Serie A this season. They are yet to be beaten in seven games while sitting on the top of the table. In seven games, they have won five while drawing two. Napoli, under Luciano Spalletti, plays a very dynamic brand of football. Spalletti has effortlessly pulled the club around while developing his players to fit the offensive style of play. The performance this season is a testament to that. In the total league matches, the club has played this season; it has scored fifteen goals.
While their offensive arsenal of Napoli is in top form, the defensive section is also top-notch, owing to only five goals conceded in the league. One name from the backline sands out. It is the new signing, Kim Min-Jae. Napoli signed the South Korean international in the summer transfer market. A deal of around 19 million euros with Fenerbahce saw him arrive in Naples.
Napoli defender impresses Paulo Maldini with top-quality block
Napoli’s match against AC Milan was a tough hurdle to cross. Luciano Spaletti’s team won thanks to Matteo Politano’s and Giovanni Simeone’s goals, ending Milan’s Serie A winning streak of 22 games. AC Milan was very close to equalizing the score in the 96th extended minute of the game. They were, however, left stunned after Kim pulled off an absurd block to deny Brahim Diaz. The block won Napoli the match and lifted them to the top position in the league table. Elsewhere the camera shifted its lenses into the way of Paulo Maldini to record his expressions.
The renowned defender Maldini, now Milan’s technical director, was pictured in the San Siro stands with his hands on his head. An honest reaction. As a result of his response to the block, fans believe it may be one of the best displays of defence they will witness this season.
