Nemanja Matic: Fulham plotting a move for Manchester United star

Nemanja Matic

Manchester United’s outgoing midfielder Nemanja Matic is reportedly attracting attention from newly promoted side Fulham as per the report in English outlet The Sun.

The 33-year-old joined the Red Devils back in 2017 from fellow Premier League rival Chelsea. The Serbian has earlier expressed that he will leave the Old Trafford stadium this summer. After making 189 appearances in all competitions over the past five campaigns.

According to the report. Fulham are keen on adding experience to their squad. And Nemanja Matic is one of the names on the Cottagers’ wishlist. Marco Silva’s side will talk to the veteran in order to persuade him to stay in the Premier League.

The report further claims that there is interest in the 33-year-old from the foreign clubs. But, the midfielder could opt to join Fulham to return to his life in London. The Serbian enjoyed great success during his time at the capital with Chelsea.

Will Nemanja Matic join Fulham this summer?

After playing almost a decade in the Premier League. It could be a perfect time to test himself out in a different league. Serie A or La Liga could be a very good destination for the former Serbia international.

Meanwhile, the 33-year-old has shown that he has lost mobility to play in a high-intensity league like the Premier League. So, joining another English top-flight club might not be the right decision for Nemanja Matic.

AS Roma was showing interest in the midfielder last summer. However, in the end, the Serbian decided to stay at the Theater of Dreams for one more season. The veteran has now opted to find his future away from Old Trafford. Following the end of his current contract.

So, it will be interesting to see where the 33-year-old’s future lies for next season. Fulham will certainly get a very good experienced player. If they get this deal over the line. However, joining the London-based club might not be a shrewd decision by the veteran midfielder.
