Newcastle united have constantly been trying to improve their quality of football and a club itself, on and off the pitch. Newcastle United’s head coach Edie Howe has done unpredictably excellent job as a manager and been convincing the new regime. Although they did not qualify for the champions league football for 2024/25 season because of few reasons like injuries, lack of experience of managing league and the European football.
However, Newcastle united have been making big signings like Bruno Guimaraes, Antony Gordon, Sven Botman, Alexander Isak and Tonali. Which shows Newcastle really are ambitious and they want their club to be more than a club who is only seeing to qualify for Europe but to win trophies.
Transfer plans this summer for Newcastle United
Newcastle united are not linked with many players in this transfer market, they might be waiting for the international football to finish. However there are strong links with Brazilian winger and current Fc Barcelona player Raphinha. the Brazilian had joined Barcelona couple of years ago from English club Leeds United 58 million Euros. His 2 seasons at Barcelona were full of ups and downs, although he has stepped up in big occasions but the inconsistency of the player on the pitch is creating question marks among the fans.
So far Raphinha was playing under Xavi at Barcelona and had adapted his playing style and Xavi wanted to use his his quality as much as possible as well. Now then, since the managerial position changed at the club and now Hansi Flick is the new manager of Fc Barcelona, although the German has not spoken anything on public about Raphinha.
However, according to reports Barcelona’s president Joan Laporta reportedly accepted the deal of Raphinha to Newcastle in around 50 – 60 million Euros. Which might just give us a hint that the Brazilian does not fit in the new gaffer system, and they would like to sell him, although it also can be a market tactics to bulk up the hype.
Raphinha wants to stay at Barcelona only
According to report, the player himself is willing to stay at the club because of champions league football and more chances to win trophies. Although Hansi Flick has reportedly said that Raphinha is ‘not essential at all’ and that creates the contradiction on will from both player and the club.
For Fc Barcelona it can be a good source to gather investment for the current transfer window as the player is excluded by the coach it self. although the desperation of club to sell the player can make the deal easy and affordable for Newcastle United, Newcastle are also looking at the links of Antony Gordon and Bruno Guimaraes to Liverpool and Barcelona accordingly on high popularity. If those transfers go through then Newcastle United will need to fill those voids
conclusion
Newcastle united are facing trouble to convince players because of not having any European football this for this season. On the other hand they also might feel difficulties in keeping their current players in the club as they are already seeing many links of big players to bigger clubs with European football.
It is also understandable that player would rather go for the clubs who can win trophies so that players can make their football career better and that is the case here too in the Raphinha deal who wants to play in Champions League.
