The English outfit, Newcastle United are all set to battle the Catalonians for signing the FC Basel Forward Arthur Cabral. Both the clubs will try to sign the Brazilian during the January transfer window.

The 23-year-old has been in impressive form for his Swiss club during the 2021-22 campaign. He has scored 25 goals and provided eight assists by making 26 appearances in all competitions.

According to El Nacional, Newcastle United could beat Barcelona in the pursuit of Arthur Cabral. The 23-year-old FC Basel striker has emerged as a hot prospect in the market. Meanwhile, Cabral is on FC Barcelona’s radar to add some more youth to their Squad. The Catalan giants are confident that they can seal the deal for the Brazilian forward for a fee of just €20 million.

However, reports suggest Newcastle United are ready to hijack the deal by offering a whopping €30 million. The Magpies are preparing a bumper contract for Cabral, in an attempt to lure him to Tyneside. Formerly, Palmeiras man, Cabral has been identified as the ideal man to spearhead the Newcastle United attack during the second half of the campaign.

NEWCASTLE UNITED ARE READY TO TRUMP FC BARCELONA FOR ARTHUR CABRAL’s SIGNATURE

Reports in the past have suggested that the La Liga giants are lining up a mid-season move for the Brazilian. Arthur Cabral could be available for as little as €15m (£12.6m) in January, with his current deal due to expire in June 2023. However, several reports suggest that Newcastle United are also firmly in the race for the center-forward who has found the back of the net 14 times for Basel in the Swiss Super League.

Following the massive takeover earlier in the season, Newcastle are hoping to attract the biggest players across the world. But their appalling league position has made them an undesirable option for most star players. Several football pundits claim that the Magpies are destined to get relegated next May. In order to avoid such a scenario, Newcastle are identifying more realistic targets that can help them get over the line.

The Premier League outfit finally have the financial backing due to their Saudi takeover. The club are now expecting to sign influential players during the January window.

Cabral was also linked with a move to Leeds United and West Ham United. The Brazilian has found the back of the net 63 times and contributed 17 assists in 101 appearances for Basel since his arrival in July 2020.
