A video clip of Brazilian superstar Neymar Jr. has gone viral recently. Neymar attended a boxing match between Artur Beterbiev and Dmitry Bivol in Saudi Arabia a little while back.
Many big celebrities were present at that event. But one incident after the match threw all the limelight on Neymar. As he announced his return to football again after an ACL injury that he took last year.
But that was not the only thing which had gone viral that night. Boxing promoter Frank Warren was also present there at the event. He was sitting along with the Brazilian in attendance.
Frank is an Arsenal fan since his childhood. And the moment he got the chance to have a conversation with the Brazilian star, he attempted to convince Neymar to join his boyhood club. And it seems a reasonable request as there aren’t many better forwards than Neymar in the history of football.
Frank was caught in the cameras pointing Neymar and saying,
“This is the man, he’s coming to England, he’s going to play for Arsenal.”
Frank further mentioned addressing the Brazilian, “We need you, we need you.”
Neymar had no words for those requests as he got rolled down laughing. And after that he stated those words which his fans were waiting for, “I’m back, I’m back.”
Why the Brazilian magician left Europe?
Neymar joined Saudi giants Al-Hilal last year in August from PSG in a deal worth of £77.2m. It was surprising for almost every individual as the Brazilian left Europe at the age of 31. As he still had that quality left to dominate in any of the top 5 leagues.
Neymar’s career started at Brazilian club Santos FC. With his dribbling skills, pace, flair and other qualities he was a complete package of a player. His peak was in Barcelona where he teamed up with Lionel Messi and Luis Suarez to create the famous MSN trio. All other opponents were feared of them at that time. In 2014-15 season Barcelona won the Treble and Neymar was arguably the best player for them that season.
But he never got the limelight there at Spain as teammate Messi and Rival opponent Cristiano Ronaldo were ruling the league at that time, Neymar understood that it would be almost impossible to attract attention in the presence of those two Goats. And that is the reason why he left Spain to join French side PSG in 2017. The purpose of Neymar was to help PSG win the UCL trophy and lift the Ballon d’Or.
But that never happened in the 6 seasons he spent there at the French topflight. However, he went very close to achieve the task in 2019-20 season when PSG reached the UCL finals but unfortunately, they fell short against the Bavarians. Last season when the Brazilian received an offer from Al Hilal with a £138million-a-Year, he didn’t hesitate to think twice and accepted the offer. After numerous attempts of reaching his goal to win the Ballon d’Or, Neymar got fed up and dumped that dream with a large sum of money.
Is there any chance of Neymar joining Arsenal?
Neymar is back from injury and was also seen training with his teammates at Hilal camp. So, we can expect to see him on the pitch before the end of the year. However, Neymar’s contract with Hilal runs until the August of 2025, and there isn’t many talks about an extension. So, there is a high possibility of Neymar leaving Saudi later that year.
Recently many sources have linked Neymar with Barca for a potential return. But that sounds almost impossible as Barca can’t afford to pay the needs of Neymar. A player of his caliber can play anywhere in the world. And fans would love to see his magic in the Premier League also. And after the conversation with Frank, something may strike Neymar’s head.
Arsenal who are also looking to win trophies can have their help from a veteran player like Neymar. But these things sound good only on paper only as it will be very difficult to pull of that deal. However, in football we never know what happens, so let’s see.
