Official: Lionel Messi signs two-year contract with PSG

An official announcement is yet to come, but French paper L’Equipe has reported that Lionel Messi has signed a two-year contract with PSG. As per the report the Argentine also has the option to extend his contract by one year.

Barcelona confirmed on Thursday that club legend Lionel Messi will not continue playing for the Catalans from the next season. This is because Messi being not able to sign a new contract with the club due to La Liga’s salary cap. Following which the Argentine has to leave his childhood club after 21 years. As the news of Messi not continuing at Barcelona broke out PSG contacted the left-foot magician to sign this summer.

PSG have been after Messi since last September as the player was set to leave Barcelona for some reason. However, later on, Messi decided to stay after then-president Josep Bartomeu threatened to take the case to court. But this summer PSG’s dream of signing Messi is becoming true as they reached an agreement to sign him on a two-year deal.

Lionel Messi has already landed in Paris on Tuesday evening to complete his move to PSG for the next season. The Argentine will sign a two-year contract with an earning of €35 million per year. While he will also have an option to extend his contract by one year.

Following Messi’s signing PSG will be unstoppable next season with a destructive trio of Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Messi at the front. While PSG might be able to lift the Champions League trophy for the first time in their history. The French giants are yet to officially announce the signing of Lionel Messi. But, it is only a matter of some time after Messi completes his medical with PSG.
