Transfer window is on its full swing and clubs are trying their best to sign players which will improve their squad. Tottenham Hotspur are also planning to build in the 2nd season of charge of Ange Postecoglou. There are recent updates about them as they have been linked to Omar Marmoush.
Tottenham always had Harry Kane as their reliable goal scorer but ever since he left to join Bayern Munich last season. Even though Ange has improved the overall squad quality and helped them finish 5th last season, they have failed to replicate their goal scoring prowess like previous seasons.
Heung Min Son once again has been a reliable player as he scored 17 goals last season. However, his attacking partner and £60 million striker Richarlison failed to deliver some impressing numbers. Ever since the Brazilian joined spurs from Everton in 2022, he has only scored 15 goals and provided 8 assists in 66 matches.
The striker crisis for Tottenham Hotspur
Furthermore, with an injury record for the Brazilian at Spurs, the striker has also been linked to a Tottenham exit. Amidst the possibility of Richarlison’s departure, Spurs have been linked with several options. Notable names our Feyenoord’s Santiago Gimenez, Brentford’s Ivan Toney and Frankfurt’s Omar Marmoush.
A German news outlet revealed some interesting update regarding the player’s future. Reportedly, Frankfurt are willing to hold onto Marmoush until an offer comes around the asking price of £42 million. The 25 years old Egyptian striker has a contract with Frankfurt until 2027. Marmoush has a slightly better scoring record than Richarlison. He scored 17 goals and provided 6 assists in 41 matches up till now.
Interestingly, Spur’s competitor Liverpool are also interested to sign Omar Marmoush. Spurs have been asked by a former spurs player to hurry and not the make the mistake they did during Mohammad Salah’s case.
Former Spurs player rooting for Spurs to sign Omar Marmoush
Mido is an Ex Egyptian player and a forward Spurs forward player. He has some crucial advice for the Tottenham board. Mido insists that Spurs should not hold out on signing Marmoush and they should get it done quickly. Mido also believes that even though Marmoush is a striker, he can even excel as a winger in Ange’s system.
Another interesting revelation is that Mido insisted Spurs to sign Mohammad Salah before he joined Chelsea from Basel in 2014. Mido once tweeted and revealed that he asked Spurs to sign Salah. In that same tweet he insisted Spurs to move quickly and sign Marmoush.
Tottenham hotspurs can be excused for not signing Salah back in 2014. Chelsea paid £11 million for the 21 year old and his time at Stamford Bridge was rather disappointing. However, not many chances were given to the Egyptian to prove his worth. What followed afterwards was a loan spell to Florentina and Roma where Roma trusted him and signed the player.
Salah repaid Roma’s trust amazingly and that prompted Liverpool to pay £43 million in 2017 and the rest that followed is history. Salah is now one of the best wingers to ever played in the premier league and is surely a Liverpool legend.
Conclusion
However, even though the Egyptian outlet has called Marmoush as an outstanding player, his numbers aren’t that impressive. Also, Spurs have signed an 18-year-old Archie Gray from Leeds united for £40 million.
If Tottenham hotspur are planning to spend that same amount on another player than they should go for someone with a better goal scoring record than Omar Marmoush.
