Important days ahead for Victor Osimhen transfer saga as we enter the final days of the summer transfer window.
Chelsea are in search of a number nine for some time now. The Nigerian Victor Osimhen is at the top of their list. He has been linked with a move from the past season. His title winning exploits with Napoli in the 2022-23 season had made him a top target for a number of European giants. PSG, Arsenal and Chelsea are among the interested parties to land the big Nigerian. But his mammoth pice tag of around 112 million pounds was the deterrent factor for the suitors in pursuin the deal.
With Osimhen pushing to leave and Napoli’s interest in Lukaku has made them relax the price tag a bit and a new price tag in revealed.
OSIMHEN SAGA SO FAR..
Chelsea have been interested in signing the striker since last summer. With Osimhen price tag the only obstacle. The striker has been showing his interest to move away from Naples since his fall out with the Napoli mangement. The fall out primarily due to a controversial tik tok video posted by the club. But this elevated to another level after tensions arise in contractual situation. Along with a disastrous title defence. Osimhen wants out now, to pursue a better oppertunity at a bigger club. PSG and Arsenal have come and gone but Chelsea have been there since day one. Currently with a vacant number nine shirt Chelsea might be hinting at bringing Osimhen in before the season ends.
The proposal from PSG earlier this window was tempting for the player. But the negotiation part was getting tougher day by day with Napoli. Chelsea have been on spending spree again this summer and they might go all the way till the deadline day so secure Osimhen deal.
NEW PRICE TAG AND LUKAKU FACTOR
The huge price demand was the only obstacle Chelsea faced in pursuing this deal. So according to football.london it has been revealed that Napoli are willing to lower their price tag to 85 million pounds. But there is an if factor. If there is a significant gain for them in the current window.
That’s where the Lukaku factor comes in. The current Napoli boss Antonio Conte want Romelu Lukaku from day one. Lukaku is a Chelsea player now but is among the other players who are trying to secure a move away. So to facilitate this move Napoli may be ready to accept the lowered price tag. According to reliable source of Fabrizio Romano, there has been an agreement between both clubs for the transfer of Romelu Lukaku
So now Chelsea may enter into negotiations for Osimhen. We don’t know yet if the transfer would be a permanant one or a loan deal. The Osimhen camp has been clear with one thing, They want a permanant way out from Napoli. A loan deal with obligation clause would work.
PSG, ARSENAL IN THE RACE
According to footballtransfer.com PSG had offered a significant amount for the signature of Victor Osimhen in July of 2024. They had proposed a package worth around 200 million pounds to Napoli. The striker was really impressed with the prospects of the deal the high sallary but the negotiations were difficult.
Arsenal have been interested in signing Osimhen for some time now. But their interests tend to ice away in reluctance to participate with big money bags of PSG and Chelsea. According to Italian source Corrierre dello Sport, Arsenal have renewed their interest in signing the Nigerian striker.
However with the Lukaku factor, Chelsea are the favorites to sign Victor Osimhen. Napoli are desperate to bring in a striker and Conte want Lukaku to reunite with him. Chelsea are in a race against time now with less than ten days remaining in the window. Anyway it looks like the Osimhen transfer saga would go all the wier to the deadline day.
