Chelsea defeated Barrow in the third round of Carabao Cup yesterday. They scored 5 goals at Stamford Bridge and made their fans extremely happy. Chelsea fans were also happy to witness some of their overlooked stars back in the action. One of those names was their talented fullback Benjamin Chilwell.
Ben Chilwell was told by Enzo Maresca to leave the club this summer. The scenario was same as Raheem Sterling where Maresca told them that they will not get any playing time this season. Sterling was able to make a move to Chelsea’s london rivals Arsenal on the deadline day.
But Benjamin Chilwell was not able to find a new club due to his injuries. After the transfer window ended in England, The Blues even tried to sell him to Saudi clubs. But the deal never materialized and Chilwell stayed at Stamford Bridge.
Later, Ben Chilwell returned to first team training and was part of squad to face Barrow. Enzo Maresca told earlier that he is planning to give Chilwell some minutes in the Carabao Cup fixture. As a result, Chilwell was introduced on the pitch in the second half and the full back assured that Maresca does not regrets his decision.
