Barcelona signed Pablo Torre from Racing Santander earlier this summer. The highly-rated midfielder is expected to play for the Barcelona B. However, there have been multiple reports from Spain that the midfielder has impressed manager Xavi Hernandez.

The young midfielder recently started a pre-season friendly against Olot along with new signing Franck Kessie. The midfielder dazzled on the field and impressed the Barcelona fans with his performance.

The Spanish midfielder showed excellent composure on the ball and displayed his range of weighted passing. The Barcelona boss is impressed by the midfielder and is reportedly considering him as part of his first-team plans.

Xavi gives account of Pablo Torre after his performance against Olot

The manager deployed a midfield three of Nico Gonzalez, Franck Kessie and Pablo Torre against Olot. The youngster was afforded a role to play between the lines and support the forwards. Despite an impressive showing from his youngsters, the match ended in a draw. However, Xavi was full of praise for his players.

In the post match interview, Xavi said that:

“We didn’t win our first pre-season match, but that is not important. It was a chance for young players to impress, and it’s clear that we still lack match rhythm. Pablo Torre has a lot of talent, and he plays between the lines. In the first half, he did a very good play which ended up in a great pass.”

Barcelona manager, Xavi is looking forward to the upcoming season with Torre as part of squad. However, it will not be easy for the Spaniard to play regularly due to the quality present within the squad. Xavi has Busquets, Kessie, Pedri, Gavi, Nico and Alex Collado as options in the midfield.

The future of Frenkie De Jong is still uncertain, however, despite the uncertainty, Pablo Torre will find it an uphill battle for minutes in the middle of the park. It is going to be fascinating to see what Xavi has envisioned for the young midfielder ahead of the season.
