Man Utd legend makes bold Liverpool claim over Arsenal

Man Utd legend and football pundit Paul Scholes made a big claim recently. He made a statement concerning Liverpool and Arsenal. The Englishman talked about the threat they pose as Premier League title contenders. Man City have come to dominate the PL under Pep Guardiola. The Sky Blues have managed to won 6 out of the last 7 league titles. Only the Merseyside Reds have managed to win 1 title in between during the 2019/20 season. As a matter of fact, City even became the first team to do a 4-peat. Now, they are aiming to make it 5-in-a-row. So, it will be interesting to see if any team can end their streak of dominance.

Paul Scholes backs Liverpool over Arsenal

Everybody is expecting Arsenal to do well. Especially because of their efforts last year. They went on to lost the trophy on the final day of the season. Mikel Arteta has done a great job with them so far. At the same time, they have a strong squad too. But, the Reds have enjoyed a great start to the season too. In fact, Arne Slot’s men currently sit on top of the league table. Paul Scholes talked on The Overlap stating that Liverpool are better than Arsenal as of now. And so, he believes that the Reds actually have a chance to de-throne the record-champions.

Liverpool vs Arsenal – Who is the #1 contender?

We heard Rodri saying last season that the Gunners played City with the intention of drawing and not winning the game. When Man City drew them this season, Bernardo Silva went on to spoke on some similar lines. He also talked about Liverpool being the serious contenders. So, agreeing with Paul Scholes seems easy. But, we do need to consider that the Reds have a new coach at the helm. At the same time, they haven’t really faced the best of teams yet. So, being at the top for now may not be that big of an achievement. But, that doesn’t rule out their chances either. At the same time, it is just to soon to offer a real conclusion as of now.
