Poor defending costing Chelsea to lose valuable points

There is no doubt that Chelsea have improved well under the new manager this season. The hunger of scoring goals and winning games is clearly visible within the players. However, despite of great attacking display, their main weakness is yet to be improved. As the Blues are still suffering from defense issues.

Maresca’s men have conceded some unwanted goals due to defensive errors. Which have costed them some valuable points in the title race. The dup of Fofana and Colwill in the center isn’t yet matured yet. And backup defenders have also failed to impress. The Blues look into the matter regarding their defense asap. As, if they want to continue to stay at the top 4 then they must not make same mistakes again.

Chelsea’s last clean sheet in the league came against West Ham in September. Opponents have always found a way to score against the Blues. And as per the reports of The Standard, majority of the goals they have conceded so far were because of defensive errors.

Goals conceded by Chelsea

vs Nottingham (1-1):

Nottingham scored the opening goal against Chelsea last month through a set piece. Blues defenders failed to win the header in the box, and an unmarked Chris Wood tucked the ball in.

vs Liverpool (1-2):

The second goal of Liverpool was scored by Curtis Jones, who completely outplayed the Chelsea defenders to score from a wonderful Salah cross. Jones breached the Chelsea high line as Adarabioyo failed to notice the midfielder’s run.

vs Newcastle (2-1):
