Premier League gives green light to the sale of hotels by Chelsea

Chelsea were on the radar of Premier League to breach the PSR rules. The rules allow a club to lose maximum of £105 million over three years. The Blues were said to have lost £166.4 million in the 2022/23 season. Hence, they sold two of their hotels in June 2023. However, they were not cleared by the Premier League. It was said due to the price not being fair as per market value. Recently, Premier League have now cleared the sale of both hotels. This has boosted Chelsea’s financial position.

Chelsea signed 13 players this summer. They spend the second most in the Premier League. The Blues spent £202.6 million on new players. Manchester United top the spending list with £205.9 million. Chelsea were already on the verge to breach the PSR rules set by Premier League. However, they also sold some of their top players. The Blues earned £172.3 million this summer. They are the top earners this summer above Manchester City who earned £146.9 million.

Premier League clears the sale of hotels by Chelsea FC

After ending the summer transfer window with a net spent of only £30 million, Chelsea have another good news. Premier League have cleared their sale of two hotels in June 2023. Firstly, Chelsea’s loss for 2022/23 season was of £166.4 million. However, now it has dropped to £89.9 million after getting green light from League.

Chelsea sold Millennium and Copthorne hotels to BlueCo 22 Properties limited. BlueCo 22 limited own both the companies. Both of the Stamford Bridge hotels were sold for £76.5 million. Firstly, Premier League did not approve the sale as they thought it was not as per the fair market value. However, now the League has given the green light. The Blues are believed to be out of danger to breach the PSR rules.
