Saturday Premier League Round-Up: Manchester Clubs keep climbing up, Chelsea to top

Premier League Gameweek-11 saw 4 matches on the first match-day, no surprises on Saturday, but plenty of drama continues.

Chelsea faced Leeds United at home, Stamford Bridge. The Blues had an opportunity to close down the point gap with local rivals Tottenham Hotspur, and they did. After going 1-0 down in the first 5 minutes, Lampard’s men did well to comeback and score 3 goals to win 3-1.

Manchester City had an easy fixture ahead of them as they hosted Fulham at The Etihad. Raheem Sterling scored the 1st of 2 goals. Kevin De Bruyne followed his amazing form and scored the 2nd goal.

The Comeback Kings Manchester United pulled off yet another win after going a goal down at West Ham’s London Stadium. This is the 9th consecutive away win for Ole’s men and 5th consecutive away win from a losing position. The Red Devils are breaking records this season.

The row of disappointing results continues for Everton as they drop points at Turf Moor to Burnley. Dominic Calvert-Lewin scored for The Toffees but it wasn’t enough to get all three points. Everton who were considered to be title contenders at the start of the Premier League season now sit 9th with 17 points after 11 games.

Chelsea 3 – 1 Leeds United

Chelsea continues to be a fortress defensively this season all thanks to the brilliance of Kurt Zouma and Thiago Silva. Zouma scored Chelsea’s 2nd goal against Leeds and is now joint top-scorer for The Blues this season.

After scoring 4 goals against Sevilla in the Champions League, record-breaker Olivier Giroud opened the floodgates against Leeds United in the 27th minute. Christian Pulisic, who just returned from his injury, also pitched in with a goal in the last minute of injury time. All-in-All a very strong performance by The Blues, they now have a strong base for being title contenders this season.

Manchester City 2 – 0 Fulham

After a very poor start to the season, Manchester City have pulled back up and are back to their old ways. This win pushed The Cityzens to 5th position with 18 points and a game in hand. If they manage to win that, they will be joint-top with current leaders Chelsea.

The main reason the City found their form is due to Kevin De Bruyne. The Belgian had a slow start to the season hence the whole team suffered, now that he is back in a form other teams should be afraid of The Skyblues again.

West Ham 1 – 3 Manchester United

And they have done it again.

Manchester United won an away game after trailing yet again. This has now happened 5 consecutive times. The Red Devils are now on a 9 away game win streak.

The comeback was inspired by Bruno Fernandes and Marcus Rashford. After going a goal down in the first half, Ole substituted Bruno and Rashford in for Van de Beek and Edinson Cavani. A stunning long ball from Dean Henderson landed for Bruno who then set up Paul Pogba for an amazing goal. The 2nd goal came just 3 minutes later when Alex Telles drilled in a low cross to Mason Greenwood who scored with his 2nd touch.

MBE Marcus Rashford scored the final goal of the game after a sublime pass from Juan Mata released him from the left-wing. The young forward came on at half-time and changed the game with his well-timed runs.
