While everyone believed that this is the year Gunners finally lift Premier League title, they have been highly unlucky. Mikel Arteta has seen many of his stars injured and 3 of them already sent off. Now, Arsenal have been hit again as Riccardo Calafiori face injury yesterday.

Calafiori started the game as a left back and played until 72 minutes. But he was taken off after an injury and Arsenal fans were devastated. Mikel Arteta spoke about the injury and his chances to play against Liverpool. He was looking seemingly worried and said it is ‘not a great news’.

Arsenal get massive blow as Calafiori gets injured

Arsenal boss Mikel Arteta had his say upon the injury to Italian defender. Firstly he said that Calafiori had to come off because he felt something. He added that he does not know the extent of injury, so it is not a great news. This has raised doubts about the player’s availability for the weekend clash.

Gunners are set to miss Saliba against Liverpool due to suspension. Calafiori was most likely to play in his place. But now, Arteta has to look for other options if the injury comes out as serious one.

Other than injury, the Italian had a really good game. He completed 83% passes and had 50% shot accuracy. He also had 50% dribble success and 6 passes in the final third. Last he had 100% tackle success, made 2 recoveries and won 3 duels. All stats are as per FOTMOB.

Who are other players in doubt for Liverpool clash?

As mentioned above Saliba will miss the important match against table toppers. Earlier it was said that Saka will be fit for Liverpool clash. But now Arteta has said that the winger was unable to train and hence is unlikely to feature against Liverpool.

Gunners will also miss their captain Odegaard who is still long way away from being on pitch. Jurrien Timber is also doubtful and Arteta may now have to monitor his squad depth. Lastly, Tomiyasu and Tierney are also long way away from playing the games.

Ben White was also taken off at the end of first half. But Arsenal fans do not have to worry about him as it was not injury related. Arteta took White off because he was on yellow and Gunners are not ready to see another player being sent off this season.
