PSG’s 2022 campaign was nothing too special to remember. The French champions were once again humiliated in the Champions League by eventual champions, Real Madrid. One could argue why the team has been failing in recent seasons on the European front despite having so much firepower and big names on the team. Big changes were expected this summer and so have been done. Luis Campos has taken over the role of the sporting director following Leonardo’s departure and a new face in the coaching department is also expected to be seen soon.
New arrivals will be taking over the Parc de Prince soon. FC Porto’s Vitinha has been reportedly signed and the club is also monitoring the situation of Renato Sanches. The club is targeting the midfield positions with no one apart from Marco Verratti convincing enough to be a starter. The French giants have reportedly entered the race for River Plate’s Enzo Fernandes, who has been in high demand in Europe. The 21-year-old fits the profile of a young, hungry player who wants to prove his quality at the top level.
Benfica’s Bid For Enzo
Portuguese side Benfica have reportedly submitted a €15 million offer to River Plate for the services of the young Argentine. The offer has been made for 70% of the player’s pass. But putting an offer of €15 million or more might not be very difficult for Les Parisiens due to to the financial supremacy they hold over other clubs.
Enzo had a prolific 2021/22 campaign scoring 9 goals and assisting a further 6 in just 24 appearances. This seems to be quite impressive for a midfielder who is very versatile and can be deployed as a CDM also. Paris Saint Germain might just be able to lure Enzo to France if they indeed need someone of his profile in the midfield position. The Argentinian is currently under contract until 2025.
