Radamel Falcao came into attention with his time at Atletico Madrid. Before moving to Spanish capital he made name with FC Porto and River Plate. He helped Porto to win the Europa League in 2011 and did the same with Atletico in 2012. In his two seasons with Porto, Falcao scored 72 goals and in his two seasons with Atletico he scored 70 goals.
As a result, Falcao reached his highest market value in career in 2013. His market value was €60 million in January 2013 as per Transfermarkt. Monaco paid €43 million to buy him but were unable to witness the best of him due to injuries. Falcao still scored 11 goals in 19 games for Monaco in the 2013/14 season.
How Radamel Falcao ended up in Premier League
Falcao tweeted ‘Hala Madrid’ despite playing for Madrid’s arch rivals Atletico. He was seeking a move back to Spanish capital but the deal never materialized.
Radamel Garcia who is player’s late father and former defender said that Real Madrid opted to not sign his son. He added that he has no hard feelings because the club has right to decide as they are the ones who pay.
Later Garcia thanked god as Manchester United came to resuce his son. He added Falcao had a chance to join Juventus, Liverpool and Manchester City. In addition, Arsenal too made a last minute approach. However, Garcia said that Falcao ended up at United as it was the most important club in England and financially powerful.
Radamel Falcao was not at his best at United. He only scored 4 goals in 29 matches. Red Devils who signed him on loan with an option to buy decided to not make his contract permanent.
Same thing happened next year, when the player was at Chelsea. Falcao was only able to score 1 goal in 12 matches. He missed most of the season due to thigh injury.
After two years in England, Falcao moved back to Monaco where he was able to redeem himself. Falcao again began to score consistently and played three years for French club.
He then joined Galatasaray where he played two years before making his way back to Spain. He joined Rayo Vallecano in 2021 and was part of the Spanish side until summer. Falcao now plays for Colombian club Millonarios.
