RB Leipzig inching closer to sign young talent Ilaix Moriba

As the clock ticks towards the transfer deadline, FC Barcelona and RB Leipzig might shake their hands agreeing on a deal upon Ilaix Moriba. The youngster not signing a new contract with Barcelona has shown him some tough times in the past few weeks. As a result, Moriba wanted a transfer away from the club with RB Leipzig interested in the young talent.

Moriba coming his way up through the La Masia academy was seen as a bright addition to the Barcelona side. Getting his first-team break in January last season, he appeared 18 times with scoring 1 goal and 3 assists. Seeing his growth, Barcelona and Ronald Koeman wanted him to get more game time this season. But there was a change in plan as the youngster refused to sign a new contract.

Barcelona offered Moriba a new contract a few weeks back to make him stay for furthermore years. But the youngster refused to sign it wanting a hike in wages, as a result, the deal fell off. And seeing such arrogance from Moriba the Catalans punished him by sending him to train with the B side. But the board had in mind about losing such a young talent for free next summer.

As result, Barcelona were willing to let go Moriba at a price range of €15-20 million. Tottenham Hotspur and RB Leipzig were the two teams most interested in signing the midfielder. And ditching Spurs, Moriba agreed on personal terms with RB Leipzig.

And now the ball is in Barcelona’s court, if they want to agree on selling the player to the Bundesliga side. Earlier, Leipzig had made a bid of €6 million which was instantly rejected by the Catalans wanting at least €15 million. And with Marcel Sabitzer leaving Leipzig for Bayern Munich, Moriba is seen as a replacement for him this season. So, let’s see if Barcelona agrees to sell Ilaix Moriba to RB Leipzig with few hours to go in the transfer market.
